okay im not going to do it for you but look at form of the poem, then look at imagery, then look at the precedents of the poem (what type are they, what traditions is he alluding to ). I think the main thing is to find similarities and differences in th imagery - body, grotesque, disease, sound, darkness are some areas of imagery. Also compare the tone - is one bleaker than the other? more ironic?

Can paralegals handle their own cases or do only lawyers handle cases?

I know paralegals do background info on cases for lawyers but can they have their own cases, perhaps on the side, maybe in order to make partner or to become a 'full pledged' lawyer in time with cases under their belt? Is it possible? Can paralegals handle their own cases or do only lawyers handle cases?
I see from your other question you are asking in the context of writing a book. If you want a paralegal to be doing work independently, non-lawyers can be authorized by some administrative agencies (SSA and NY Workers' Comp come to mind) to represent individuals appearing before those agencies. In the case of the NY WCB, I believe it's as a ';licensed representative.'; If a paralegal were to be employed by a law firm, it is unlikely that they would do this on the side - it would be a part of his or her job to do this.

Hope that helps. Can paralegals handle their own cases or do only lawyers handle cases?
    No
They can do all the work, but they cannot get the big bucks. Better go to law school if you want the green backs.
    Nope.

    Paralegals are glorfied secretaries.
    nope
No, they have no standing in court, and are not members of the Bar or court!

However, in Vermont, the only remaining state, you can become a lawyer by interning in a law practice!
Well depends on how you read that question, if your wondering if a paralegal was on trial could they handle their own case, yes, its your constitutional right to have a representative of your own choosing, including yourself. If you mean representing somebody else as a lawyer no, you have the right to choose your own representative in a court of law but that representation cannot claim to be an attorney at law/lawyer unless they are on the Bar.

ASFA can be used only in situations where there has been termination of parental rights before. It is up to the Child protection agency and the judge to determine if it applies to a specific case. There are times where they decide it is not best to apply ASFA to a case. What are some Supreme court cases that pertain directly to the ninth amendment?

i know of Griswold v. Connecticut

i am just wondering about some other court cases that Supreme court decided on that concern primarily with the 9th amendmentWhat are some Supreme court cases that pertain directly to the ninth amendment?
As noted in his book, “The Rights Retained Retained by the People,” by Professor Barnett, Ninth Amendment analysis has proceeded in three stages . . . . . .

The first stage lasted until 1965 and during this period there were only the most glancing judicial and scholarly references to the ninth amendment, with no explicit construction of the amendment by the Supreme Court in the seven cases that represent the sum total of the Court’s pronouncements on the amendment prior to 1965.

    Roth v. United States [1957]

    Woods v. Cloyd W. Miller Co. [1948]

United States Pub. Workers v. Mitchell [1947]

Tennessee Elec. Power Co. v. TVA [1939]

    Ashwander v. TVA [1936]

    Scott v. Sandford [1857]

Lessee of Livingston v. Moore [1833]

The second stage began in the Griswold v. Connecticut [1965] the court held unconstitutional Connecticut statutes that criminalized the use of, or assistance in the use of, contraceptives. While Justice Douglas wrote that the statutes violated the right of marital privacy created by the prenumbral rights emanating from the specific guarantees in the first, third, fourth, fifth, and ninth Amendments, it was Justice Goldberg’s concurring, joined by Chief Justice Warren and Justice Brennan, that catapulted the ninth into sudden respectability. Justice Gold berg concluded that the right to marital privacy, although not expressly listed in the Constitution, is nonetheless protected by the Ninth Amendment.

(Note from Randy – In my opinion his most significant statement was, “The language and history of the Ninth Amendment, reveal that the Framers of the Constitution believed that there are additional fundamental rights, protected from governmental infringement, which exist alongside those fundamental rights specifically mentioned in the first eight constitutional amendments.” I can just visualize the Founders hooraying Justice Goldberg.)

This case acted as the foundation for the court to further define privacy by alluding to the ninth amendment but not explaining precisely what unenumerated rights the ninth amendment might include in the cases of . . . . .

    Planned Parenthood v. Danforth [1976]

    Buckley v. Valeo [1976]

    Lubin v. Panish [1974]

The waning of the Warren court saw the beginning of the third stage and began invoking the ninth amendment to justify an expansive reading of individual rights. Justice Black opined that the ninth amendment is a “fountain of law.” Justice Ely “it is intended to signal the existence of federal constitutional rights beyond those specifically enumerated in the Constitution.”

Professor Barnett goes on to state, “The central question in ninth amendment interpretation has been the existence and extent of the federal rights the amendment is suppose to encompass. The historical evidence , however, suggests that the ninth amendment is not a cornucopia.

(Randy note: this becomes quite lengthy from here on so I will only mention that the focus here (Justices Black and Ely) is on the rights listed in the first 8 articles of the Bill of Rights as they are interpreted by the court as being encompassed within the 14th amendment and not rights as may be evolved from the ninth amendment. The is a multitude of scholarly works, both pro and con, on this perspective. I believe that it is fair to say that this is far from finality.)

Are there any documented cases of a woman giving birth to twins with different fathers?

I am not a fertility expert, but does it not seem reasonable that if two eggs were available for fertilization, a common occurence, that if a woman were to be with two or more men during the ovulation window, that it is POSSIBLE that a single sperm from seperate men could fertilize the seperate eggs...Are there any documented cases of a woman giving birth to twins with different fathers?
No. This does not happen. Even if you were to have those circumstances arise, once an egg is fertilized, then the body signals all other fertilization to cease.

I think the only way a two fathered pregnancy would occur is if you had sex with both men at the same time, but even then, it is highly unlikely. Are there any documented cases of a woman giving birth to twins with different fathers?
I'm sure it's in the realm of POSSIBILITIES, but the probability of that is like, 1 to like, 1,000,000,000,000.
    IMPOSSIBLE people arent like dogs
    Good question though.
Good question...I'm sure it's possible. But jeez, what a ho!
I have been wondering this too!! Although I think the woman would have to have intercourse with the two men at the same time, otherwise the first man's sperm would most likely fertilise both eggs.

I'd like to know about this.
Actually that's pretty clever. That way she gets two checks instead of one
actually there are documented cases. i can't remember where i found them but i believe the most recent case was in Italy. obviously the sperm would not be fertilizing the same egg. but if two eggs were released during ovulation, and the women slept with two different men very close to one another then there is a chance of both men fertilizing the eggs. although, the chances are slim, thats why its such a freak occurence. but i'll see if i can't find that article and post it here.
Actually, this is possible and has happened. I'll see if I can find anything about it online, but it's more than possible. Especially if one ovary releases one egg, and then the other releases an egg they both can be fertilized within a couple of days of each other and produce 2 completely biologically different twins. Twins are only identical when one egg splits into two, that has the chance of happening like every 4 in 1000 births, no matter what race you are.

    Here's a link about it. http://www.dnacenter.com/media/twins-dif鈥?/a>

Heteropaternal superfecundation is very rare in humans, though more common in other animals. This is primarily due to the predominance of 1:1 heterosexual partner pairings among humans. A woman who has sexual relations with two or more men at short intervals within the same ovulatory period can be impregnated by both men.

There have been noted examples in the past. The classic case, which is discussed in Williams Obstetrics (1980), was recorded in 1810 by John Archer, the first doctor to receive a medical degree in the United States. According to Archer, a white woman who had sex with a black man and a white man within a short time subsequently gave birth to twins--one white, one bi-racial. Other cases have been reported since.
    hmmm!
I heard that it's possible and that it happened before in real life...not just in a soap opera.
There was a special on a few months ago but it was invitro and the sperm of two men got mixed...both men a different race. So this couple had two boys and one was black and one white. It was weird but apparently things like that can happen.

Why does velocity increase as pipe size increases in certain cases for circular pipe flow, constant flow/slope?

Example: Flow=0.15 cfs, slope = 0.77%, n=0.010, pipe size = 5.66 inches diameter and 8-inch diameter. Why does velocity increase as pipe size increases in certain cases for circular pipe flow, constant flow/slope?
You are confused because we are not talking about full flowing pipe, we are only talking about partially full pipe.

You need to use Manning's formula to calculate the velocity of each pipe, are you sure that you did it right? I can't really calculate it easily from the info that you supplied, but I can say this.

    Velocity=(1.486/n) * R^(2/3) * Slope^(1/2)

Now since you say the the ';n'; and the slope of the two pipes are the same, it is clear that ';R'; for the 8 inch pipe must be greater than the ';R'; for the 5.66 inch pipe.

Now what is this ';R';? It is the hydraulic radius, which is the area of flow divided by the wetted perimeter. There must be some weird examples where the larger pipe has a greater hydraulic radius FOR A GIVEN FLOW RATE. For example, with this amount of flow, the 5.66 inch pipe might be flowing at 3/4 full and the 8 inch pipe is flowing at half full, each with it's own hydraulic radius. Even though the 8 inch pipe has more area of flow, it also has more wetted perimeter, but it is the ratio of the two that is important.

UPDATE- you know, the more I think about it, It seems that the 5.66 inch pipe must be almost full, like 90%, and the 8 inch pipe is like 3/4 full, the smaller pipe would have a greater ratio of wetted perimeter to flow area than the 8'; pipe. Why does velocity increase as pipe size increases in certain cases for circular pipe flow, constant flow/slope?
    conservation of mass is why.

The same water has to flow through a smaller opening at any interval of time where (somewhere else) a larger opening is letting the same water pass through.

Since the water amount is the same everywhere, the water has to speed up through the smaller opening to get enough through to make sure water doesn't back-up, compress, or otherwise change.
The smaller pipe has more surface area compared to its volume. Drag is related to surface area which means it takes more energy to move an equivalent amount of water (based on cross-sectional area) in a smaller pipe than in a larger pipe.

What this means is for an equivalent amount of 'head' (elevation drop--potential energy), a larger pipe will carry more fluid / cross-sectional area than a smaller pipe.

    ......................................鈥?br>

Edit: Ah, didn't read the question quite as thoroughly as Mugwump--good catch......Just skipped ahead to what I thought important which was absolute flow, not velocity with a fixed flow.

The principle remains the same that there will be less wetted surface area and less drag in the bigger pipe and therefore the flow will be faster.

With partially filled pipes the pipe closest to half full will generally have the fastest flow rate, but the calculation is trickier. At half full, the pipe has the least surface area to volume of water in the pipe thereby giving it the least drag
Veocity in a circular pipe (under gravity) is given

by the Colebrook-White equation, a form of it is:-

    V = -2sqrt(2gSD) log(k/3.7D+2.15v/Dsqrt(2gSD))

    where :-

    D - diameter

g - acceleration due to gravity

k - Nikuradse equivalent sand roughness size

    S - Hydraulic gradient

    v - kinematic viscosity(1.14x10^-6 m2/s at 15deg C)
Used to use this formula every day in my job as a pump tester, alas that was 40 years ago and the old grey matter is getting fuzzy. Try Wiki flow velocity.

    Hope this helps
The flow is impeded only by friction beween moving fluid and stationary surface.

The surface is in a linear relationship with the diameter of the pipe, the mass of fluid varies with the square of the diameter(area of cross-section).

Therefore, as diameter increases, the ratio fluid:surface improves (becomes greater) - or putting it another way, a given particle of fluid has less chance of contacting the surface and being retarded.

    Less retardation, more velocity. QED.
I`m no expert in fluid dynamics but could it be because there is less frictional resistance in a larger diameter pipe??

This file contains the responses I received to a message I sent on January 21, 2000 to the TECHWR-L and WINHLP-L discussion lists. It was posted on the Techwhirl website for awhile but was removed during a reorganisation of the site. Other people’s comments are included with their permission.

    Here is my original message:

Can someone direct me to a plain English explanation of “use cases” and “user scenarios” as used in designing, programming and documenting software applications?

I have some superficial experience with them, but find that I can’t explain them in plain English, or at least not beyond the superficial. I’ve found some definitions on the net, but the definitions were all in techno-speak and made little sense to me. If there’s anything in the archives of either of these lists, it eluded me.

The context is: writers can use them to help build task lists from which to build online help and user guides.

But what exactly do the terms “use case” or a “user scenario” mean, and how do they fit into the software development cycle?

I saw Anthony Markatos’ comment (on a different thread), “But Use Cases are just stripped-down Data Flow Diagrams… a currently very popular book on Use Cases [is] Larry Constantine’s ‘Essential Use Cases’,” but I would prefer not to buy a book. I don’t need to know this in depth (I hope) but I do need an overview. “Just the executive summary, please!”

Any leads, preferably online ones, gratefully received!

You can but since the recipe is designed for the smaller size you won't cook it for the same amount of time and it might not taste the same because you are changing the ratio of the edge to center. Ramekins can be purchased for less than a dollar a piece. Once you have them they come in handy for small desserts. Might be worth getting them if you really want to make the recipe. Can I use large cake cases instead of ramekins?
Yes you can You will have to extend the cooking time though since there will be more distance to the center of your pan. The edges may be a little brown though as it is important to cook all the way to the middle.

  • Should US soldiers in Iraq get immunity from killing innocent Iraqis in most cases?

Immunity, definitly not, I find it disturbing just to consider it. I believe that our system of innocent until proven guilty should still apply.

Do you think those Marines that Massacred 24 civilians in their own homes and then raping a 14 year old girl should be considered for immunity? If there was a law like that it'd be harder to prosecute such criminals that give our country a horrible name. Just because men and women where the uniform, it does not mean they should be put on a higher pedistal, they represent the US and as such should give us a good name.

On that Sniper case above, I don't know the whole story, but from that vague account you gave, he was surprised and if anything should be charged with manslaughter which could be as low as a few years in sentencing. But even then, he was on a battlefield and if a investigation determined he did it in selfdefence, then he should have a minor punishment.

Ofcourse I'm a person that believes punishment of individuals keeps a organization in good health.Should US soldiers in Iraq get immunity from killing innocent Iraqis in most cases?
No they should not in most cases. Their is a huge difference between making a mistake and thinking out and killing a known innocent civilian. The sniper case bothers me on many levels-a big part of it is the fact that six ';snipers'; were hiding together (unusual in itself since they typically work in teams) and they all went to sleep without posting a watch-never heard of any military unit breaking that rule in the field regardless of how well hidden you think you are. Those troops might have been well trained snipers but they used poor judgment in many areas which led to the worst decision of all-not posting the watch and letting themselves be found. I do not understand Army ranks but thought a Specialist was a technician and not front line infantry much less a sniper so can't figure out why he was with them either. In this case I do not think immunity should have been given and really have some doubts on what this sniper team was doing and how well trained they were to do it; honestly, the whole thing just feels funny/wrong. Civilians killed in a cross fire or accidentally should the military person be punished or charged-No but in cases like this then yes they should be; if they can justify it then should be found innocent but in this case I do not think it was justified or necessary especially since it was basically caused by them not following either common sense of military training to establish a outpost.Should US soldiers in Iraq get immunity from killing innocent Iraqis in most cases?
It would depend on the circumstances.
    No.

Because what I was taught in the military was something called: ';The Law of Armed Conflct';.

We had to be sure that who we shooting at were in fact combatants.

This Law was set up after Vietnam to help prevent some of the atrocities committed there. Nothing quite so disturbing like someone who decided that War was the perfect excuse to indulge in serial killing.
If it is an accident yes, **** happens.
    YES.............
Service men put their lives at risk more than they have to so they won't cause civilian casualties. But when it does happen you have to remember that it's war.

Just like the latest court hearing for the Army sniper. He was doing his job, then suddenly a non-uniformed person discovers his hide. Then he shot the man. Only to discover that the man was unarmed afterward. He did exactly what he was trained to do, defend himself in a potentially threatening situation. Now he might get life for his honorable service.

It's sad that we would do this to those that risk their lives for this nation.
Yes they should. We are at war.

Do you know of any cases of American criminals (US citizens) taking up residence in Mexico to escape the US?

justice system? In the 1980s or 90s?Do you know of any cases of American criminals (US citizens) taking up residence in Mexico to escape the US?
Well this happened in the 2000s but Andrew Stuart Luster the heir to the Max Factor fortune, fled to Mexico when he was convicted of being a serial rapist.Do you know of any cases of American criminals (US citizens) taking up residence in Mexico to escape the US?
Nope, but I know a few Americans who have had more than a few contacts with criminals down there.

    One was doing some business in Mexico City and essentially emptied his business bank account paying off the ';fines'; (requested bribes) for some trumped up charges. He had to quietly sneak out of town in the night and take some winding paths back to the U.S. to keep from being caught. He told me that ';Some of the biggest crooks in Mexico carry a badge.';

Another one fished down there often, a comparatively short drive from his home in Arizona. He didn't drink beer, but always took a big load. When driving back, he always put the beer in open view and his biggest fish on top in his ice chest. He was always stopped by soldiers, often pointing automatic weapons. He had to leave his truck while they searched it. They always let him pass after the ';inspection'; and always without the beer and his biggest fish.

From what I've heard, American criminals may sneak off to Mexico, but it usually isn't to take up residence there, it is to move off to other places without leaving a paper trail that is so often useful in the U.S. when one travels.
I cant think of any personally but I'm sure there were too many to count!

For some cases how can they pick jurors?

i mean for cases like the Peterson trial...and the McVeigh*sp*. I mean they are out there and everyone knows about them. For some cases how can they pick jurors?
The jury pool is picked from usually the voter registration rolls or the driver's license rolls or both. Then usually both lawyers get to ask them questions in order to determine if they are prejudiced. Sometimes only the judge asks questions. Often they fill out a questionnaire before the judge and lawyers question them. Both the prosecution and defense can eliminate usually 12 jurors without giving a reason, but they can eliminate an infinite number of jurors for cause. The usual strategy for the defense is to pick either successful, happy people since embittered losers want revenge for a misspent life. The usually like stupid, uneducated jurors since these are easier to mislead. For some cases how can they pick jurors?
there is always someone not watching the news, but the question is how legal themselves are they
Usually in a well publicized case the attorney will ask for a change of venue, meaning to hold the trial outside of the defendants hometown. Sometimes the judge will allow this.
i get what you mean these cases are so well publicized that it seems impossible to find a jury that will be impartial.

like the Gotti Jr. cases in NYC. they have tried this guy 3 times to a hung jury. the government is contemplating going for 4. but like the other 3 trials they have all been well publicized and it's hard to find a jury that will be impartial. most jurors will go in with the verdict already decided in their minds.

In most cases, which of the following statements are you more likely to believe (see details)?

    A. The right government can be a positive force for a better world.

    B. Government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem.

And why?In most cases, which of the following statements are you more likely to believe (see details)?
    A.

Where would we be without government?

Without police/fire fighting services? In most cases, which of the following statements are you more likely to believe (see details)?
    In the first statement, the word government is modified with the word ';right.'; The right government ...That would depend entirely on someone's definition of the ';right government.';

In the second, which is a quote from the infamous traitor Ronald Reagan, the word government is not modified, so it means all governments are problems. Reagan tried all he could to destroy the government, but Clinton saved it, only to have the worse traitor Bush II try to ruin it again. I think Bush may have succeeded.
I am more likely to believe A.

B is bullshit propaganda that the rich, those who control the capital, want us to believe

In an A type of world democracy, the individual vote, is more powerful, and this is the only power a poor person has in this country.

In a B type of world money is the only power, only those that have money have power.
    A. Historically speaking, positive and progressive government has been responsible for providing things such as 13 or more years of free education, free health care and support for some of the most vulnerable citizens (namely, senior citizens), and cheap electricity to rural areas that would not have access to an electrical grid without government involvement. Many people in the United States profess to some sort of Judeo-Christian faith (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), and one of the core tenets of all of these religions is charity. I do not understand why people will profess their religion until they are blue in the face, but are up in arms when their tax dollars go to help those who, as their religion states, they should be donating to and working with anyway.
Our government is supposed to be a government by the people, of the people and for the people. It is not some separate enemy entity. If we don't pay attention and stay involved, government officials can start usurping power to themselves and violate the basic civil liberties of individuals. We have seen both during the last 8 years.

    A. is more of a believable statement, at least in a democratic country like ours and where the people are actively participating and paying attention.

People who advocate B are more inclined to be those who wish to alienate the people from their own government in order to use the government's resources to benefit a certain select group of the powerful and influential.
Both statements can be true. It depends on the circumstances. Getting the “right” government is difficult, as is getting the government “right.”

Which circumstances do we have today? IMO, it’s clearly B because we sure don’t have the “right” government. Our politicians have spent and borrowed us into a deep hole. In the case of the mortgage crisis, politicians were “regulating” an industry they didn’t understand and oversight was ineffective because they didn’t know what they were looking at.

Everyone knew there was a housing bubble and that it was only a matter of time before that bubble would burst. Yet the government pushed mortgage lenders to make more mortgage money available to low-income borrowers on very favorable terms: Zero down, negative amortization loans. In many cases, the ONLY ways these borrowers could meet their obligations was if they could flip their house, pocket a tidy profit and move to a less expensive house. But that made them speculators who had to time the market.

Why did the government allow mortgage lenders to delegate their loan approval authority to mortgage brokers? The brokers get their commissions when loans are funded, not as and when they are repaid. Their objective was to get as many loans approved as possible, and some of them bent the rules to achieve that objective. Why not? The brokers had no capital at stake and took no risk. The only thing they took was their commissions.

We need government for many things, national defense being one of them. We can’t put Wal-Mart or IBM in charge of our military. Washington has to approve treaties with other countries. We can’t delegate that responsibility to the state of Iowa. But maybe if we had, the “free trade” agreements negotiated on our behalf wouldn’t be killing us with debt and we would still have some manufacturing capacity.
    I agree more with B.

Government is a necessary evil and any expansion of government comes at the expense of the liberty of its citizens. Thus, we should limit government to those functions that cannot be performed in a practical manner by any agency other than a government.

The best government is small, local and required to answer to the local people.
    a) indirectly

good government facilitates a society that expedites individual realization of as positive force rather than dictating to a collective as to what that should be (which results in your option B).

    b) it depends upon the government
I have to go with A. I think that government should be a force for good. Is there over stepping from time to time...yes. But someone needs to be looking at the big picture while I try to live my day to day life.
Government is the agency through which We the People act as a nation. If you see that as ';a problem'; then you must have a very peculiar way of looking at things.
Once you essentially cede control of the government by believing option B, the country becomes more vulnerable to dictatorship by the few. A is the reasonable option.
    B.

Cuba, Soviet Russia, Venezuela, China, Iran.
    B.

    Two words, ';Social Security.';
very coherent, well thought out argument panama. did blago sell you your top contributor status?
    B.

What has government not messed up that they have touched?

    Hows our school system?

    Hows the SSI program?

    hows the welfare program?

The volunteer firefighters do MUCH more. God bless em.
    B.

    I'm an American.
    Neither.

Never, never take any statement at face value regardless of the source. If you do, you are vulnerable to being suckered.

Always test everything you hear or read.

(In this case, Reagan was the source for B, and it is true in some circumstances. When he said it, we were at the beginning of Carter's 2-year recession. The statement may not apply in all circumstances.)
    B. and Regan was right!!
B, well, have you seen what our government has done for the working class ?

Have any cases of swine flu been confirmed in North Carolina?

What about South Carolina and Georgia?Have any cases of swine flu been confirmed in North Carolina?
    no, no and no.

JHave any cases of swine flu been confirmed in North Carolina?
Yes, there have been cases of the Swine Flu in North Carolina and South Carolina. About 6 cases in each state. However, Georgia seems to be in there clear for now.
There's a website, www.idemc.org/, that shows not only confirmed but probable cases world wide. It's color coded: red flags confirmed, yellow probable and green suspicious. It seems to be running the course like any other flu.
Yes South Carolina has been exposed to the Swine Flu- not NC yet. Some college kids from Newberry College came back from Mexico- where they got the virus- they have been isolated and so has everyone who has come in contact with them.
No here in north carolina were only investigating sick people but most of the tests show negative for it

Are copkiller cases really given higher priority than other murder investigations?

In a state that has capital punishment killing a police officer is a capital offense (regalrdless of the how or why) The same goes for a firfighter or medical staff.

As for how they are investigated and the man hours spent on them. Technically no, but much like if you worked at a hospital and came in with a serious injury they are going to go the extra extra mile to help you out becuase you are one of there own. It is human nature to do so.Are copkiller cases really given higher priority than other murder investigations?
They should. Ppl who kill law enforcement obviously don't have any respect for authority and therefore are the most dangerous to society considering there's no one their afraid to kill. Are copkiller cases really given higher priority than other murder investigations?
Yes. To kill a police officer is to commit a crime against society so heinous that it shows a complete disregard for society and the law. Such a person cannot be allowed to remain free and must be brought to justice.
First off, berthiaumechristopher, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Get out of jail free card? That is laughable!!!! So if a person with a non-existent get out of jail free card murders someone, you think they ';get off Scott free???'; You need to wake up and get some real world experience friend.

As for the actual question. They are not given a higher priority but you will see more cops working them and more guys trying to help for 2 main reasons. 1 - it is a brother/sister officer and in any job, you go out of your way to help those people. And 2 - if someone is bold/stupid/crazy/etc enough to kill a cop, the last line of defense the general public has from criminals, do you really think that person is going to care about killing a civilian? And if cop killers are not brought to justice and made to pay for their crime/s, what makes you think that they won't be out there being just as brutal and vicious with your family, friends, etc? If people don't get caught/found, arrested and tried for killing cops, who will be left to protect the citizens when more cops start dying?
Not a higher priority, just a more urgent one. Just as it should be. The Police are family, just like Soldiers and Fire fighters. The Police are just like anyone else, If a building is burning and a person is trapped, some Fire Fighter will try to get you out, but if another Fire Fighter is trapped, the whole damn Fire Department and most other departments will show up to run in there to get him, even if its on their own time because they all know it could well have been them in that building. It's the same for the Police, If someone is killed, Some Officers or Detectives will be assigned the case and try and find who did it, but if another officer is killed, the whole damn department and most all departments around will try to find who did it even if they are ';off duty'; because they know that it damn sure could have been any of them also.
I'm not entirely sure about which cops you are specifically talking about, but many states do have a capital punishment for murdering a government official.

For instance, murdering a DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) offical is a sure-fire way to get arrested and thrown into United States federal prison. A planned, premeditated murder will get you a one-way ticket to death row.

Again, I cannot pinpoint as to which federal officer you are talk about, but generally these types of cases have speedier processes. And as I stated before, they will always get you for killing certain people (DEA). Even if it takes the government twenty years to catch you...
Does a bear poop in the woods? They look out for their own, and killing one of them is the ultimate taboo in their eyes, as if their lives have more value than ours. It's just another case of everyone looking out for their own interests. They happen to have government power and authority to advance their interests at the expense of everyone elses. Just a fringe benefit, I suppose. The risk comes with the territory. If they don't want the risk, then they should find a job doing day care, or something. In my eyes, the life of a cop has no more value than the life of any other good law abiding citizen. Ever hear of a ';get out of jail free'; card? Rumor has it that cops hand them out to friends and relatives. Then, if a holder of such a card gets caught in some offenses by a cop, he can present his card and get off scot free! Just another fringe benefit. So much for justice! Seems like bullplucky to me!
yes. cops are the worst people. they like to harass folks. they sit in the donut shops and stuff their faces. all they know who to do is pull people over and harass them on crap. they use our tax money for crap and don't solve cases that have been opened for years. i wounder why we have police officers in the first place. they are like the govt. we need new law officers.

Is there a better treatment than Nitrofurantoin tablets to sterilise urine in bladder in reflux cases?

My son, 37 years, has a congenital reflux and is taking Nitrofuradantoin tab 100 mg every night for the last 26 years to sterilzie urine in bladder overnight. Trimethoprim, but you probably exhasted that years ago right? Is there a better treatment than Nitrofurantoin tablets to sterilise urine in bladder in reflux cases?
That's interesting - usually children that have ureteral reflux have had surgery to corrected if there are problems.

All medications have side effects as do any other treatments including surgery. The decision needs to be based on risks and benefits - meaning the benefits obtained from any treatment should outweight the risks of complications or problems from that problem.

The antibiotic he is on is a commonly used one for urinary tract infections. Overtime, however bacterica do develop resistance and may certainly have developed it over 26 years of treatment.

He can always switch to a different antibiotic - however, all antibiotics do have side effects and bacteria do develop resistance. Additionally antibiotics have the effect of killing other bacteria in the body including ones in the intestines which are supposed to be there. Killing the ';good bacteria'; gives room for ';bad bacteria'; to grow.

You should consult with your urologist to determine the best course of action.
My daughter was born with stage 3 bladder reflux and a dual collection system in her left kidney. and they had her on a low does of amoxicillen to keep bacteria at bay. She is 7 now and currently not on anything. I guess in an adult you would need a higher dose and this would be fruitless. I also had to keep fluids going through her like mad which to this day she drinks water around the clock pretty much. I am so sorry to hear that as anadult they haven't come up with something better
After 8 years of reflux the best choice is surgery. Check for renal scars with a DMSA, if he has renal scars the best choice is surgery(ureteral reimplant)
Hi. my 7 year old had grade 4 reflux on one kidney and grade 5 on the other from the time he was born until he was about 2 years old. they were starting to talk about doing a transplant until his uroligist suggested doing a uriter re- implant. He had the surgery at St. Louis Children's hospital and has never been on any med's or had any infections since then. Hope this Helps, Ellen Lynch

Why can the Supreme court re-hear cases that have already been decided?

As is the case with this late term/partial birth abortion hearing. I know in criminal court unless substantial evidence has changed, you can not retry a person after a verdict. Why then can the supreme court re-hear a case they've already decided? doesn't that negate their entire purpose?

and please, this question is not about abortion... not interested in abortion opinions right now.Why can the Supreme court re-hear cases that have already been decided?
They cannot. Once a case has been ruled on, that decision is binding (other than appeals to a higher court). It's called ';res judicata'; -- the issue has been decided.

However, there is one limited circumstance. In some rare situations, the Supreme Court (or appellate court) rules on one specific aspect of a case -- say a jurisdictional question, or a procedural issue. The case is then remanded back to the lower courts for further proceedings.

At the end of the trial, either party can appeal on the merits. And if they raise issues on appeal that were not previously addressed, there is the possibility of the case making it all the way back to the Supreme Court for resolution of different issues. Same case, different questions of law being addressed.

As to the partial-birth ban law, that law hadn't been reviewed by the Supreme Court before. The Supreme Court struck down a similar (but not identical) Nebraska state law. Three appellate courts have all struck down the federal law as unconstitutional, but the Supreme Court only reviewed the federal law yesterday.

So, it's not a matter of re-hearing a case that's already been decided. It's a matter of hearing a case that is similar to one that had already been decided. The primary legal issue now to be resolved by the Supreme Court on this case is whether Congress can make legislative findings (';never medically necessary';) that are legally binding when evaluating constitutionality.

If they can, it basically means Congress can make any law pass constitutional scrutiny, just be including legislative findings that effectively order the courts to let the law stand.

{EDIT} The above answers are also correct. Kudos to MLaw for catching the 10-day motion for reconsideration exception as well. Why can the Supreme court re-hear cases that have already been decided?
If you are referring to yesterday's argument on so-called ';partial birth abortion,'; they are NOT re-hearing a case. They are hearing an appeal from a lower court in a new case that happens to involve issues related to those they've heard before.

BYW: Courts CAN rehear cases. Under the Federal Rules of Appellate procedure which apply to the S. CT., and under Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which apply to Federal trial courts, a party can request a re-hearing within 10 days of a final court order to correct errors in law or fact.
No, it considers human error, and has the authority to make things right.
The Supreme Court is the highest appellate court in the United States.

When a case is decided at a trial court, the loser (and sometimes even the winner, if he didn't get everything he wanted) can appeal the ruling to an appellate court. Eventually, it works its way up to the Supreme Court.

While the Supreme Court does have the power to reach down and snatch just about any federal case through a writ of certiorari, it is exceedingly rare.

They don't rehear cases they've decided. They hear a new case with different parties covering the same issue as an old case. If they want to resolve the controversy differently than in a prior case, they'll have to overrule all or part of the prior ruling.
Don't confuse ';Original'; and ';Appelate'; jurisdiction. This isn't a criminal case; it's a case involving the constitutionality of a law. Since the Supreme Court has complete control over its appelate docket there are no limits to how many times it can hear something.

The last time a case like this was before the court the members were different, and the law in question came from another state. The court ruled the way it ruled; but that doesn't preclude the court from changing its mind. So long as five justices (in conference) vote to take the case, there is no limit to the number of times an issue can be brought before the court.

The best way is to go to the newspaper that is nearest to the place where the murder (and trial?) took place. Ask to see their morgue file for 1993. Most papers are very cooperative. Perhaps the reporter who covered the story is still aound and you could get a first-hand account. Good Luck/

What do you think of South Dakota's new law banning all abortions even in cases of rape and incest?

It seems like if a 14 year old girl gets raped by her father she should have some options open to her should she get pregnant.

Personally I think she should have that right anyway. But as long as they are throwing it in our faces I guess we should discuss it.What do you think of South Dakota's new law banning all abortions even in cases of rape and incest?
I don't agree with it. It's discompassionate and the state has no business dictating what a woman should do with her own body.

As for the argument about the morning after pill, it's a flawed argument. To get it, you have to see a Doctor, which is a difficulty for victims who, for whatever reason or other, won't report the assault. And depending on state laws, you have to fulfill certain legal obligations, and endure hardships to get it, not to mention that minors have to have parental consent to get it, imposing further hardships on incest victims. Human nature is just too flawed to impose a catch-all solution. What do you think of South Dakota's new law banning all abortions even in cases of rape and incest?
It will make abortion a states rights issue, like the assisted suicide law in Oregon.

Roe v. Wade is bad law because the Supreme Court acted with fiat in the ';discovery'; of the right to privacy in the Constitution. It circumvented the legislature which is responsible for creation of laws in this country.

Roe v. Wade should have been removed from the court's jurisdiction along time ago, due to the fact the court was creating law from the bench.
I think it's a thinly-disguised ploy to get the Supreme Court involved, in the hope that they will overturn Roe v. Wade.

Special note to AmBer: the same conservatives who have made it so hard to get an abortion are also making it difficult to obtain emergency contraception such as the so-called 'morning after' pill. Keep that in mind the next time *you* have a pregnancy scare.
Sounds like a law the rest of the states need to adopt too. Abortion is not a form of birth control, and it is being treated as if it is.
i agree with it, you have no right to take away someone's life especially when they haven't even enjoyed our world yet.
You people that are into dictating what a girl can do with their body, I sure hope that your daughter don't get pregnant by a rapiest. What I hate is that abortion will go on not in a clinical setting but in a back ally using a coat hanger endangering young womans lives. I am against abortion as a form of birth control myself but you have no right to dictate to others what is moral or not moral for them.
    I think it's a good law.

I am Pro-Life myself and the only case where I would support Abortion is Threat to a Mother's Life.

I would not object to a law permitting it in cases of Rape and Incest but still South Dakota did good and im glad they recognize Roe V. Wade as an invalid law (The Supreme Court is not suppose to make Federal laws, that power belongs to Congress).
i i'm all for it i think all states should pass that same law. they ahve the mornig after pill for rape cases.
I did not know that!!! That's horrible. That makes me very, very angry. Who the hell voted for that??
wow, i didn't knnow there was such a thing! I am utterly shocked. I always thought that abortions is excusable with rape cases or incest. That is why I am pro-choice. It's a woman's choice to decide whether she wants to keep the baby or not. If you force a woman to continue with the pregnancy, expect to see an surge in adoptions and abandoned babies. I think it is worst to bring the kid into the world and jeopordize their well being than it is to abort a fetus. To me, it's either a a human being or a fetus.
This is an example of what happens when the state allows religion to control behaviour. Abortion is a right that women fought for and won and now it has been taken away by fundamentalist pigs. There is NO difference between Islamic zealots and Christian zealots. Neither should affect the secular world.
I read this today on campus on a fly printed by an obviously Pro-Choice group, and I couldn't have been happier. I'm also very pleased to see so many like-minded individuals posting here. The government does have the right and the duty to prevent any injustice, be it abortion, slavery, robbery, or murder. And since no one claims to know when life actually begins in the development of a human being, I think we definately need to err on the side that avoids the possibility of murder. Even in cases of rape and incest, which are tragic, yes, but they're not the fault of the child and the child's life should not be ended before it begins as punishment.
I don't think there is a clear cut answer for abortion, too many variables.

But I say allow abortion when it's under the cases you presented, or in cases where the mother is in danger.

But it shouldn't be 100% legal, cause there are too many people who do it like it's a game. If you're going to have sex, and you don't want a child, use a condom. It's why we have them, or take a pill...something. I know of too many women who have rampaging sex-lives and get knocked up everyday and go 'ha, at least i can get an abortion! tralala!' They abuse abortion and show they have no self-control or care for the life they are creating. Abortion should only be an emergency procedure, not a frivolous choice to be taken lightly. We're talking about making a child!

And to those who say no one should have the right to tell women what to do with their bodies, some of them have sorely abused that right.

Do hi point handguns come with carrying cases if you purchase one new?

Don't waste your money on this third-rate 'boat anchor'. I have NEVER read a positive professional evaluation on this under-engineered 'brick' ANYWHERE. If it does come 'new' in a carrying case, the case will be the most reliable and useful part of the purchase, whatever the cost may be.

These junkers are more effective THROWN at an assailant than FIRED at one.

Save your hard-earned cash and buy a PROVED weapon, like a Glock or one of the many clones, or, even best, a H-K.Do hi point handguns come with carrying cases if you purchase one new?
A friend of mine bought a Rossi revolver and got a cardboard box as well. You get what you pay for. I learned that with a s%26amp;w sigma. Even they came with a case though.Do hi point handguns come with carrying cases if you purchase one new?
You would get a nice white cardboard box with a 150 dollar (or so) paper weight inside.

I would save up the extra money and get something worth while.
I have yet to hear anything positive about the Hi Point guns. Even the highly touted S%26amp;W semi autos seem to be very lacking, judging from what people have been saying, just here on Yahoo answers.
hehehehehehe not gonna comment on hi point, gonna let the others tell you about their amazing ability to wow you

but to answer you, i believe that they come in a cardboard box, not a carrying case

that box will be the best part of your purchase
Many people are not impressed with highpoint, others like them.

But you buy the carry case as a separate item.

  • I've just been invited to a birthday party for a 2 year-old. How many cases of bourbon should I bring?

How much do you need to drink yourself comatose? That's the main question. Because a Two-year-old doesn't know **** about birthday parties. So what's the ******* point? Really, you should do this kid a favor and forget the bourbon and bring a gun and shoot the child's parents in the head. Because any parent who throws a two-year-old a party is just going to embarrass the **** out of the kid to the point where he wants to kill himself by the time he's eleven.

I mean, it's one thing to have a party for grandparents and aunts and uncles. But I'm getting the vibe that this is not one of those.

Seriously. Kill them.I've just been invited to a birthday party for a 2 year-old. How many cases of bourbon should I bring?
A case should cover it as long as someone else brings the beer.

When my good friend threw a bash for his six year old we went through about a case of jack and a thirty pack. By the time they went on a rail run I was so stoned I'm not sure what was left. I handed somebody a fin towards something but I couldn't hear him over the Lady Ga Ga blasting out of the speakers.

Great party. Kid had an ';Elmo'; ice cream cake and they bought a clown who made balloon animals.I've just been invited to a birthday party for a 2 year-old. How many cases of bourbon should I bring?
    3. You need one case to knock back on the drive over there. You have to be drunk as hell to deal with a 2 year olds birfday party. But limit the kid to 3 bottles. Or until the little $hit passes out. I have seven kids ranging from 1 to 10 years old, and bourbon never lasts more than two days at my house. Good luck.
you don't remember being under-age, do you? KIDS DRINK VODKA, NOT RYE! come on, man! yeash!

anyway, to answer how much of the potato juice you should bring, just do this simple equation: multiply the kids age by the number of guests, and then that is how much $$$ you should spend. how ever many cases that gets is up to you (depending on if you get high end hsit or low end.
Depends on whether you're having clowns or ponies. Clowns drink a lot more so if it's clowns, plan on two bottles per. Ponies are good for about a bottle and a half each but less if they're Shetlands. Then it's about two kids per bottle and one bottle per adult. All together, I'd say ten cases. Glad to help!
Someone starred this, and before I even clicked on it, I KNEW it was YOU. Will you marry me? We can just drink and have drunk ';romantic relations without the romance';.

I promise I will never want to have your children.
Depends if you have your own kids or not. If you don't have kids of your own...you WILL need a lot more to drink in order to deal with the noise!! I don't have my own kids....
Forget the bourbon love...you're gonna want hard drugs to get through a nightmare like a 2 year olds birthday party...those little suckers are loud and persistent...and they BITE!
1 case of whiskey for a party of 20.

I prefer Jameson, Irish whiskey to bourbon.
1 case should be enough. 2 year olds don't drink that much.
    Two is the preferred etiquette.
    none. its a kids party.

Abortion is the wrong choice except in cases of incest, rape and to save the life of the mother?

Do you agree or disagree? Why?

A thumbs up for every good answer...And a 10 points for the best answer...

What's to lose??Abortion is the wrong choice except in cases of incest, rape and to save the life of the mother?
Abortion is wrong in all cases, I've heard about some of these things and i'm not too sure about it, but i have a couple of ideas of what it's about...

Incest, i heard about that on Ripley's believe it or not and you just get born with a birth defect or something, it's still not worth killing the unborn, sort of like kicking someone when their down and out for the night..

the second one, i have no idea what that is...

and to save the life of the mother, well if the child was already dead inside then it's ok, but it's not ok to kill it, maybe remove it if it's already dead but NOT kill itAbortion is the wrong choice except in cases of incest, rape and to save the life of the mother?
It's a massively grey area for morals.

On one hand, you have the life of the baby/foetus/embryo to consider. Does a child in the womb have human rights? If so, when do these rights kick in? From conception? From when a heartbeat can be recognised?

Then on the other, you have the life of the mother to consider. Should she be allowed to choose to terminate a pregnancy? What if the having baby is putting her life in danger?

Personally, although I may not agree with the reasons a woman may adopt when having an abortion, I believe that they all should have the same right to choose whether or not to keep the baby.
I don't like abortion but I don't think that it is wrong. It is the mothers choice. Sometimes you are just not ready to have a child in that case then ok fine. But if you are living a normal life with a job meaning you are out of school! the father is willing to be apart of the child's life and you are really really ready to have a child. There are so many people out there who have children who are really not ready to have the responsibility of taking care of another life. Someone who is doing drugs and partying all night long should not have a child. they don't know how to take care of themselves and are going to harm the child because of what they are doing. Or they will just ignore the child and then it will but harmed. So What i am telling you is that it is wrong but it is not wrong. Because sometimes you cant control the situations you are in. If you are in an abusive relationship would you want to bring a child into that? You need to take care of yourself before you can take care of another living human.

I wouldn't have an abortion unless it was life threatening. A child is something special you know something that is apart of you and is a huge responsibility! If you are not ready to take on that kind of responsibility. Which for someone who is still in school is to be able to go back to school and complete high school at least. The number of drop outs because of teens being pregnant is extremely high. That needs to stop. We wouldnt have this problem if people would have responsible sex.
disagree. i dont think someone should bring a kid into the world if they arent ready to raise it well and properly. also what if the mother didnt know she was pregnant until a month or two in, and had something to drink during the first few months? fetal alcohol syndrome is not something i would want to live with. and thats just one of many ways someone could screw up their kid before birth.

not to mention, to all of the people who are going to mention the Silent Scream video, that was fake and they have actually proven that abortion does not cause any pain or discomfort to an unborn fetus. it's not even developed enough to comprehend that it even exists yet. so i think it is better to prevent it from being born if it's headed toward a horrible life after birth, since it's NOT murder. thumb me down all you want lol, i know my facts and i feel very strongly about this...

oh and great question by the way, this type of question always sparks up some crazy debates.
Well I personally am glad that Rowe v Wade became law 36 years ago. I think everybody has the right to choose what's best for themselves. Now you can at least go to a medical facility, and not some butcher that calls himself a doctor. Prior to 1973 women got illegal abortions, and many of them died too.

I carried all my pregnancies and have three healthy children, born to parents who were married with careers, that could provide for them.

What about all the young girls who get pregnant, don't want to care for their babies, and hand them off to their own mothers. It can really mess up a family, a life. If you don't believe me, visit a Burn Ward in any Children's Hospital. I'm sure you'll find at least one child that's been burned by the parents. What about when you know in advance that your baby will never lead any kind of normal life do to a serious birth defect?

Aren't you glad that you at least have a choice?? I know am.
i agree. Abortion is murdering the child. it is alive and having abortion murders the fetus. i believe however that when a young girl is raped and is pregnant because of the one who did it, the woman will have that reminder of what happened to her. the child wasn't meant to exist to begin with, it wasn't meant to happen. its means of existence are sad and not whats meant to be. why should the woman be left to suffer anymore?
It ain't no one's business except the mom (and the dad if he's around and interested). The mom is the one who knows best whether it's wise to have the kid or not.

And since her decision don't affect no one else, it ain't their business.
This is a very very controversial and emotional subject. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion so here is mine:

I don't agree with abortion because my God! It's a baby we're talking about here. It didn't ask to be conceived.
i agree, but in some communities getting pregnant before marriage is a big shame and that girl will be blamed for all her life time, so in this case i find abortion is a better choice

i believe married people should never do abortion!
i think its wrong except to save the life of the mother. i hate it when people use the hard cases excuse. its like 98% of abortions r for selfishness.
I'm not answering this exact same question again, please refer to the other answer I gave you!

    thnx for posting this question....

    Here's a star for you.....
no abortion is wrong in all cases

that is my opinion though...i can't tell the mom what to do with her baby of course.
I think that Abortion is wrong unless it saves the life of the mother. All the other ways are taking the soft way out.
    Agree to that.....!!

Where could i find a pro bono lawyer in colorado who deals with sexual harassment cases ?

I agree with the above two answers to the extent they say stop looking for a pro bono attorney. Most of the people in here seeking an attorney want one to work for them for free. Do these same people seem to think that car dealers ought to give them cars for free, that they ought to be able to buy their cigarettes for free, etc.?

Having said that, go to martindale.com. That is a free website that lists attorneys and their specialties throughout the country. Good luck to you.Where could i find a pro bono lawyer in colorado who deals with sexual harassment cases ?
you won't find one any where that deals with those cases pro bono. If you want to file a claim then you can find plenty that will take a contingency fee.

If you are defending, you will have to hire an attorney.Where could i find a pro bono lawyer in colorado who deals with sexual harassment cases ?
You don't have to have a pro bono lawyer. Any lawyer will take the case on a contingency basis if you have a good case against somebody with deep pockets (i.e., they have insurance or a lot of money to pay the judgement). Good luck.

Ditto on the Freecycle answer--that's how I recycled about 100 CD cases. I've also donated them to my local library, which was VERY grateful to get them. Patrons often break the CD cases and the libraries need to replace them. Also check with senior centers, community radio stations, nursery schools.
thats easy put in a recycleing ben and the trash people well take it away
there are sites such as freecycle.org that give you the chance to offer your cd cases to others in your area who may have a need for them.
Donate them to your local elementary school.
I would suggest that you donate them to elementary schools. My oldest son made me a wonderful mothers day gift at school a couple of years ago. It was a plastersine scene on the inside of the cd and it was safely preserved. It is sitting atop of my shelf and I always look at it. Suggest this to the school when you drop them off.
I put pictures or bagdes inside to use as decor around my house.
Please donate them to your local school. I'm a teacher and I beg for them!! We study the stories and illustrations of Barbara Reid and to end the study, we make a plasticine picture in an empty CD case. It's handy since the cover can be closed when the kids have finished their pictures. The kids don't have to worry about others damaging their masterpieces and many have entered their piece in the local fair. Parents have easily displayed their children's work by using the stands meant for designer plates or by merely standng the CD case against something else on a shelf.

Are you in favor that Vigilantes holds investigation & punish to those convicted for corruption cases?

Except for neighborhood watch (neighbors looking after neighbors, safety-wise), I am not in favor of anything where civilians take the law into their hands. NO to vigilante groups. Are you in favor that Vigilantes holds investigation %26amp; punish to those convicted for corruption cases?
No. Vigilante individuals or groups are not recognized as legal authorities to enforce the law. No one should ever be above the law, any law for that matter, including the slow pace of justice in the Philippines. Somehow, it only speeds up when it involves wealthy, prominent, and influential members of the community.

If the intention is to speed up the wheels of justice, then the solution is to get more judges into legal courts to try such cases. Vigilante-citizens may not be the best persons to do such in that they may not be professionally-trained in the matters of the law.Are you in favor that Vigilantes holds investigation %26amp; punish to those convicted for corruption cases?
What the heck! With or without the vigilantes, the wheel of justice favors only those who have the power and money.

Killed for mistaken identity? It happens all the time. Vigilantes will not be created without some high ranking politician or someone that could finance the expenses. And I mean influential person not just a so,so by the curb of the street.

Now, I don't have to answer your question whether am in favor of vigilantes or not. It is therefore my prerogative to keep it to myself.
theoretically, if the vigilantes are high moral people, then it is good, but it would be difficult or impossible to determine who are the good people. Anyone can play good guys but in fact are bad guys. There should be a standard form of law if such group should exists and adhere to. Then, it is the same as having a judicial system and police power.

If the target are corrupt officials, why don't they start with the small fishes and the big fishes later. Or are they just another personal armed henchmen of rival politicians who are also corrupt and would like to grab power at every opportunity?
    NOPE.

The result will be ruthless and senseless killings everywhere.

Do you want to be killed or someone close to you be murdered then people will just think of it as something done by vigilantes?

If we allow this, we would not distinguish those done by vigilantes and those of plain criminals.

and how about mistaken identities? vigilantes kill then makes a mistake then says sorry?
    Not in favor.

How do I trust that the vigilantes are objective in their investigations? In fact, they may have an axe to grind against certain individuals, clouding their better judgment.

I believe we are still in a land governed by laws. Let us do our share to make sure the laws are applied.
Of course NOT! what`s the use of our police force and the justice system? are they that really lame when it comes to implementation and security?why do we need Vigilantes for? what is Vigilante anyway? are they cops? i hate cops.
It is never good because as anything that holds power, it may be abused.

';You can become the hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.'; - harvey two-face (the dark knight)
Sometimes I think the vigilante-style of meting punishment is more favorable than waiting for the wheels of justice to do its job however, each one is entitled to a day in court.

edit: sorry, i inadvertently overlooked the word ';convicted';. no need for a vigilante to mete punishment since the person has already been convicted.
Only if they make me their Supremo.

Otherwise, I shall most vehemently condemn them and tell them they are usurping the right of the State to do violence to its citizens.

Muslims; where is the support? Why don't you guys give thumbs up to answers from other Muslims? In many cases ?

Why don't you guys give thumbs up to answers from other Muslims?

In many cases the answers that comes from a Muslim is usually thumbed down (just because they have referred to Quran or Islam) , and the answers from those who just ridicule are usually thumbed up?Muslims; where is the support? Why don't you guys give thumbs up to answers from other Muslims? In many cases ?
Anyone is allowed to thumbs up or thumbs down whoever they want. If another brother or sister had a dumb answer that was crap in my view i would thumb them down. It doesn't mean i hate them or something. It just means i don't agree with them. Am i sposed to agree agree agree with every Muslim just because they are Muslim? ha! That's not acting fairly, honestly or justly in my eyes sorry. Salam.Muslims; where is the support? Why don't you guys give thumbs up to answers from other Muslims? In many cases ?
    Great question,

I am still not understanding why when I take the time to truthfully answer a question people report me and give me thumbs down.

However, Many people here ask silly, baseless questions with the same types of answers and their questions and answers remain.

When I fist discovered Yahoo!Answers like a month ago or something I was so excited to see they had a Ramadan section where I could learn and teach my fellow Muslims. But after only a few days I saw hateful Muslims blasting and corrupting the true beauty of Islam. It also became clear that certain people disliked others not because of their answers but because of who they were.

And after being here for a month and answering over 200 questions it is clear that many people here don't like me no matter how I answer their questions.

    what Bastards
Where's the support against terrorist acts? If there isn't support of muslims coming together to denounce terrorist attacks and how they don't stand for islam, how are you going to support on ';answers?'; Don't expect too much, dang.

    Edit:

Not saying anything is just as bad....I haven't seen one muslim protest or denounce Al Quada publicly. I haven't seen a group come together to state Al Quada is the opposite of what islam is all about. I haven't heard anything really. Thats my point, you guys and gals haven't stood up or said anything.
I agree, that this section isn't only used by our muslim brothers and sisters only.

as for the reference from Quraan or islam, why i don't always give thumbs up, becuase sometimes people just pick the CONTENT of the reference rather than focusing on the CONTEXT of the reference.

But that doesn't mean I give thumbs down, I just expect our brothers and sisters to do their own research and find out what's right and whats wrong, rather than just reading and believing one indiviual
this is life dear, muslims are Always thumbed down..just because they are muslims.. the world don't want to know islam.. there is a big power that makes people blind and deaf and don't want to hear the truth.. they Alwayse refer to islam as a religion of terror.. world look at all muslims as if they are osama bin laden!!!... muslims have to work hard to make all people in this earth know the jewels of islam.. the beauty and the greatness of islam..

anyways, muslims themselves must answer question without hurting others feelings or criticizing any other religion.this what prophet mohammad taught us.

and thank god for being muslim and believer of one only great god.
to the first answerer.. we are not terrorists and we dont support terrorism..

the average muslim family is just as scared of terror attacks as the next John Doe family is..... Why do people assume we enjoy terrorism and welcome it? GEEZ!

and I always give thumbs up.. If I see a nice well thought remark/answer and it is given in laymans terms where everyone even non muslims could understand (which is in the whole spirit of propagating islam).. I thumbs up them...

wow! two thumbs down already after 6 min of posting....
Truth here is rejected, i don't look at thumb down and up, if i did then i would not answer a single question, here they are the worst Muslims ever, they give thumb up to mockers and people that insult.
i have found that muslims know almost nothing about the quran and hadiths. so maybe they should google the questions and give a honest reply. that would help islam more than anything. im sick of the same out of context reply. show where its out of context.
FOR THE PIOUS MUSLIM THE SUPPORT OF ALLAH ALMIGHTY IS SUFFICIENT, WHO CARES FOR THE THUMBS UPS OF THE HYPOCRITES...LIKE YOURSELF.
i am a new member here and i can not thumb up or down yet

well, promise i will do once i can

thank you for answering my question
